Everybody rumored, nobody believed, but you see it's true. No, this isn't another case of Capcom vs. SNK, but it's something that wrestling fans will appreciate: SmackDown! vs. RAW. Two worlds of the WWE finally come together for one big throwdown.

It's not just the characters of SmackDown! and RAW joining this fight, either. Several WWE legends are included, including such favorites as Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Bret Hart, the Legion of Doom, and ol' Fezzik himself, Andre the Giant. Although this feature isn't included for the legends themselves, all the current WWE superstars provide their own voices for the game, which is a first for the series.

Step into the Online Ring

The biggest news for SmackDown! vs. RAW is that you'll be able to go head to head against other challengers online. THQ is extremely hyped about this feature, and we understand why. It's about time that a wrestling game has gone online.

Despite Andre's polite request, The Big Show definitely doesn't "want a peanut."

In addition to the online play, there are plenty of other new features as well. Instead of simply having a bell start off each match, they begin with a pre-match stare down where you can shove your opponent or engage in a quick reflex-based "test of strength" to get the upper hand on them as the match begins.

Another new device used to add depth to the play is the chop battles. When you back your opponent into the corner, instead of simply pummeling them with a move, you must now execute a timing based series of chops to them. Meanwhile, they can attempt to counter your chops and get a few blows in of their own.

If you're sick of being tossed out of the ring so easily, you no longer have to worry about that. The new ringout meter insures that you have to work to dump some chump onto the concrete below. This is especially useful during a Royal Rumble, where a ringout is all you need to get disqualified.
