About a month ago, we took a look at the first Taito Memories collection that's currently available in Japan. The second disc in the collection was recently released, and once again, it contains 25 arcade games from the company that brought classics that range from Space Invaders to Bust-A-Move (or Puzzle Bobble, to use its Japanese name).
Taito Memories Vol. 2 features a few more older games (i.e. pre-1985) than its predecessor, but it still has some great titles from more recent times. Since this is a Japan-only release, you may not be familiar with all of the games, but here's the complete rundown on what titles are included in this compilation.
Space Invaders (1978)
Do we really need to explain Space Invaders to you? Aliens march back and forth while constantly moving downward. You shoot up at them while dodging their shots. It's black and white, kinda slow, and to be brutally honest, it hasn't aged well at all. Still, it's a classic game, and any Taito collection without it would feel empty.
Space Invaders Part 2 (1979)
Other than the addition of glorious color, there's not much different about this Space Invaders sequel. There is a cute (if not very simplistic) cinema that plays when you clear each stage, though.
Crazy Balloon (1980)
If you've ever played Irritating Stick on PSone or Nintendo's import-only Kuru Kuru Kururin for GBA, then you'll be familiar with Crazy Balloon's gameplay, which is a very primitive version of those titles. Guide a drifting balloon through a spike-filled maze without touching the sides.
