Sega confirmed today that a new expansion pack for its online action-RPG Phantasy Star Universe will be available in fall 2007. Chief among the new features offered in the expansion is the ability to create a customized avatar in both the online multiplayer and offline single-player campaigns. In addition, all new content has been grafted onto the expansion which enables you to travel to new locales such as the Ruins of Old Rozenom City and the Granigs Mines. Chilling in the off-hours should be even more of a festive social extravaganza thanks to expanded lobby areas featuring colorful decorations and music. If that's not enough for your Guardian, you could always trot him/her/it into the new Casino Voloyal where all manner of table games exist to fulfill your Guardian's crippling gambling addiction.

Though the press release we received makes no mention of an increase in the current level cap, it does boast "a slew of new weapon types, armor, Photon Arts, and clothing." The broadening of customization stretches into your Guardian's Room, where Sega has bolstered the number of bits of decoration and interactive objects that you can virtually exhibit thanks to the new grid system.

No price point was yet been given for Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus. While Xbox 360 users will have the option of downloading the expansion over Xbox Live Marketplace, poor PS2 and PC users will actually have to schlep their way down to the ol' game store and pick up a hard copy.
