I can still remember betting bottles of beer on games of NHL 94 in college. My ex-neighbors are probably still wondering who the hell Zarley Zalapski is. Not that I condone that sort of activity -- you know, playing video games for alcohol -- but at one time the series had a serious cult following of players who weren't necessarily hockey fans. Even though it has remained a consistently solid experience, emotions over the franchise have chilled since it took its first steps into 3D.
