Something else that we've been trying to do at Naughty Dog is add a lot of cool secrets in our games to give players a sneak peek behind the scenes.
We've been trying to add things that you might be more used to seeing as "DVD extras." So on Jak X we've included commentary on the cutscenes in the game so that you can hear what was going through the animators' minds as they were working on the scenes. We also put together a "Bloopers" reel that is a collection of some of the funnier bugs that occurred over the course of development. There is also a movie which shows the stage-by-stage development of the creation of the intro movie, which is by far the most ambitious animation that we have ever done. And we also have a behind the scenes look at the voice actors as they are recording the audio that went into the intro-boardroom scene. I think these little extras are a lot of fun for fans of the series and especially people who are interested in the development process of a game.
We've been having a great time making Jak X, and this testing process that I have to get back to is actually a lot of fun. In fact, there have been more than a few times that we've been "testing" the game a little bit too much when we should have been busy making it!
