Sega confirmed today that it will not be bringing Altered Beast to North America.

We contacted Sega of America and received a short but to-the-point statement: "SEGA has no plans to publish or license Altered Beast for the current generation of hardware in North America."

Under development by Sega WOW, Juu-Ou-Ki: Project Altered Beast, is an action adventure title in which you can morph into more than eight creatures, such as a Werewolf, Dragon, Minotaur, each with their own combat techniques and skills. Altered Beast also allows you to manipulate your own genetic DNA to assign powerful and strategic attributes to each beast.

We heard a rumor that SEGA has become much more particular about its stable of IP relative to what it ships in the US, and this would explain about why Sega of America decided to not publish Altered Beast. No details are available yet about whether or not Altered Beast will make a European appearance.
